Student Counsellor Program FAQS

Get the support you need and feel great about supporting our students pursuing their careers in counselling! These are answers to some of the most common questions about our program. For more information, contact us.

What is the process after I submit my information?

Our administrative team will initially reach out to you by phone. If we’re unable to reach you, we’ll send an email to schedule a callback – for your confidentiality, we don’t leave voicemails for potential clients. If you prefer email, we’ll send you a list of available session times, and request that you reply by email or phone with your preferred time.

How does this program work?

Once you’ve spoken with our admin team, you’ll book a time to meet with the student counsellor. The counsellor will have regular consultations with a supervisor each week, so you can feel confident you’re getting the professional support you need. If both you and the counsellor find the interaction beneficial, you can proceed to schedule further appointments.

How many sessions are there?

We offer up to 8 sessions per client, but additional sessions can be approved. This is handled on a case-by-case basis. There may be fewer sessions offered depending on when the client starts and the end date of the student’s field placement.

What topics or areas can your student counsellor help with?

The student counsellor is open to exploring various areas of concern, although they may not be suitable for handling complex issues such as childhood or sexual trauma, or PTSD. In such cases, we will recommend a specialized clinician on our team. The student counsellor can do an initial session, and together, you can assess the right fit for your needs.

How much does it cost?

There is no set cost per session but financial contributions will be accepted.

How long will it be until I can see someone?

There is typically no waiting period.

Is my information confidential?

Confidentiality is of utmost importance. All forms, casenotes, and other personal information are electronic and only stored in our secure calendar system.

Does a supervisor sit in on my therapy sessions?

The sessions are one-on-one with the student counsellor. The option to audio record sessions for supervisor review is at the discretion of the client.
