Emily has a range of experience working with children, youth, and young adults. Her areas of interest within this population include anxiety, AD/HD, depression, emotional regulation, OCD, and self-esteem and/or self-worth. She uses client centered therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and solution focused therapy when working with clients. She is currently continuing her education in play therapy for children.
She has work experience as an applied behavioural analysis home therapist, a K-12 teacher within the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District, and a researcher in the fields of early childhood education, childcare programs in Newfoundland, mental health and social emotional learning among young children, and inclusion practices in the school system. She continues to practice research with local organizations and Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Emily also performs psychological assessments. Formal Assessments are used to determine the best way for you or your child to learn and identify any necessary educational interventions. Attributes that are identifiable using psycho-educational assessments include Cognitive Ability & Memory Skills, Academic Functioning, Attention and Behaviour, Executive Functioning and Adaptive Functioning.
