David’s experience and background has included men’s issues, addiction, divorce care, conflict/mediation, and trauma recovery. He works within a client centered framework, adjusting techniques and interventions to suit his individual clients’ needs. He uses a range of cognitive behavioural and solution focused therapy techniques when working with clients. He is particularly interested in the role of attachment style and meaning in relationships. He is currently continuing his education in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to advance his ability to help others.
David’s work experience has been as a police officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and in private practice as a counsellor. As a police officer, David serves as a Crisis Negotiator, and as a member of the Community Conflict Management Group and Critical Incident Stress Management Team. He continues this employment, and offers part time counselling services through A Holding Place.
